BuddyPress Xprofile Custom Image Field is a plugin that adds an image selector to the range of profile fields available to BuddyPress. When installed, it allows for users to add images to their BuddyPress Extended Profile.
Installation is simple – download and activate. Once activated a new Custom Field Type is added to the Admin>>Users>>Profile Fields page of Image and once selected then users are able to use it to upload an image from their local PC into their profile.
The uploaded image is stored in a subdirectory of wp-content/uploads/profiles.
Of course once you have the image in the users profile, you will need to do something with it, which ususally means additional customisation but that’s the name of the game with a lot of additional Xprofile fields – they provide you with a starter for ten, to allow you to more easily create your own custom solutions.
I give this plugin 10 out of 10, it is simple and does exactly what it says without fuss.
I've been setting up and managing BuddyPress social networks for a few years. I moved from Ning and other platforms and have come to BuddyPress looking to make sites with similar features to them.
BP Post Status adds three new Post Status options; alongside the usual publishing options, the post publishing box now supports Members Only, Friends Only and Group Post statuses, with Group Post providing a drop-down of available groups to assign the post to. It also adds a group posts tab in each group and provides the option to set a post as the group homepage.
BuddyPress Follow allows members of a BuddyPress social network to follow each other, it places follow buttons on each members profile and in the members page and adds extra tab's in each members profile page, one showing who is following you and the other showing who you are following.
