Plugin Review – BuddyPress Extended User Groups Widget
Version Tested: V 1.0.3
BuddyPress Extended User Groups Widget is a plugin that will display a list of groups that the user is a member of or a list of groups that they manage. There is also a version of this plugin that will display the same for the member whose profile is being viewed.
Installation is a case of downloading the plugin from the BuddyDev website and then uploading it via Dashboard>>Plugins>>Add New>>Upload. Once activated the plugin adds the new widget to Dashboard>>Appearance>>Widgets.
There are two uses for this widget. Firstly it can be used as a general purpose widget, for display on most pages that will show the group details for the member who is viewing the page. The second use is enabled by downloading the version on GitHub, which can be placed in the member profile pages and will display the groups belonged to for the member whose profile is being viewed.
The plugin provides several optional group views, including Most Recently Active, Most Popular and Random.
This plugin is simple and in it’s GitHub version it provides a profile page specific widget perfect for helping you create a unique profile page look. I give this plugin 10 out of 10.
