BuddyPress Username Changer is a simple plugin that allows BuddyPress site members to change their WordPress Username.

Installation is simply a matter of downloading the plugin and uploading it from Dashboards>>Plugins>>Add New>>Upload and then activating it, there are no settings to configure.

Once activated the plugin create a new tab at Profile>>Settings>>Change Username. This simply shows the current Username and has a field to enter the new one.

One feature I would to have added to this plugin would be an option to have admin notified when a user changes their name. Sometimes it possible for users to hide themselves on the site by changing their username and display name combinations and it would be nice to be able to be notified about this.

Note: The BuddyPress activity stream takes the username and link as a static entry. This means that historic entries will not update to the new name. The activity will still belong to the user however clicking on the username on older activity items will simply redirect to the homepage. This might be an issue where users are changing their names often.

This plugin works and is very simple, it adds features without adding to the complexity of your site, I give it 9 out of 10.
